Reserving charges may rise
Reservation charges for books at the Canterbury Public Library are likely to increase from 10c to 15c. The Christchurch City Council’s cultural committee will recommend the increase to the next meeting of the council. The service to borrowers attracts about 1000 reservations a month, the committee was told yesterday. Recent increases in postal rates have made an increase in reservation charges necessary and, if the council approves the committee’s recommendation, the new charge will apply from September 3.
