Firearms charges
PA Hamilton A Taupo man, aged 38, faced three charges relating to firearms at a special court sitting at his bedside in Taupo Hospital yesterday. He faced two charges concerning possession of a J 22calibre pistol arising from an incident at Lochinvar Station, near Taupo, on August 15, and one charge of possessing a shotgun without lawful purpose. Mr C. Currie, J.P., remanded the man to appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Taupo on August 28. His name was suppressed. Bail was refused and the defendant was ordered to stay in hospital under police guard.
