National park idea dropped
Parts of south-east Otago are no longer being considered by the National Parks Authority for possible inclusion in a national park. The areas in south-east Otago which were of scientific, scenic, and historic importance were too fragmented to form a national p.irk, said the chairman of the authority (Mr N. S. Coad). The Lands and Survey Department has been asked to look at other ways in which these areas can be protected.
