Mururoa test move
PA Auckland Greenpeace Foundation and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Auckland yesterday asked the Government to send scientists to French Polynesia to test for radiation. In a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Mr Taiboys), the organisations say
the request is in support of the French Polynesian Territorial Assembly which has unanimously asked rhe French Government to stop all testing until an independent civilian scientific team has tested the Mururoa waters for radiation.
Greenpeace says the New Zealand Government, as a Pacific government, has a special duty to support the Assembly and genuine scientific study could replace fear and rumour with facts.
