Hospital parking
I The City Council should I stand firm on planning rules | that would ban further (Christchurch Public Hospital ' building development until I proper off-street parking 'was provided, a councillor Isaid last evening. Sir Terence McCombs reminded the council that I Government building projects were now bound by district schemes.
Cr P. J. R. Skellerup said the parking problem was of the North Canterbury Hospitalßoard’s own making. The board had to realise that off-street parking was
not just a frill, said Cr Mollie Clark, also a hospital board member. In the end, the hospital grounds might have to be less intensively developed. “They are trying to cram too much on precious little,” Cr .Clark said.
The Mayor (Mr H. G. Hay) said it was disturbing to see that. shifting the Christchurch Women’s Hospital to the grounds was still an aim of board [officers. That would only add to the congestion and parking problem.
