Appeal for Nicaragua
Three charity organisations in New Zealand jointly sponsor an appeal to raise money for the war victims of Nicaragua. The Nicaragua emergency appeal, organised by Corso, Christian World Service, and the Roman Catholic Commission for Justice, Peace and Development, -will be held at Christchurch from today until September 23. The appeal will open at Corso headquarters at 206 Barbadoes Street today at 8 p.m., when a 45-minute film shot during the fighting in Nicaragua last year will.be shown.
The secretary of Corso (Mrs L. Jackson) said that Oxfam (the British relief organisation) had estimated that a million people in Nicaragua were without jobs, or food. Donations may be sent to Corso, Box 1905; Christian World Service, Box 297; or the Catholic Commission, Box 2450, Christchurch.
