PA Wellington An industrial advocate for the Employers' Federation and an Auckland printing trade unionise have been awarded Prince Philip scholarships ii human relations to stud; overseas. The awards, announce' by the Minister of Labou and chairman of the Industrial Relations Foundation (Mr Bolger), go t< Mr J. Beattie, of the Employers’ Federation, and Mr P. Gaskin, field officer for the Printing and Related Trades’ Union in Auckland. In September Mr Beattie will attend a 10-month study course in labour relations law, labour economics and collective bargaining at the school of industrial and labour relations at Cornell University in New York state. Mr Gaskin will also go to the United States to study methods adopted by the International Typographical Union in Colorado to train workers in new skills required by printers to use the new computer technology. The printing industry in New Zealand is undergoing big changes as a result of the introduction of computers.
