Conservation contest
The Conservation Week story and poem competition showed that hundreds of young readers had got the message about the need to. protect New Zealand’s endangered plants and animals, even fish. All the entries expressed a concern for the endangered species, and that is what the week was all about — making us aware of the need to protect things that cannot protect themselves. Room 1 at the Isleworth School adopted the competition as a class project,
and it is pleasing that the judges chose one of the 20-odd entries from the school as a prize-winner. If there had been an associated drawing competition then some others could have been featured, because the illustrations were good.
