If you are between 22 and 40 vears of ace (or not older than 45 years and have >pecial skills) and possess School Certificate or higher qualifications with a background in commerce, teaching, law enforcement or as a certified tradesman, the Department can offer you a challenging career with ample variety and job interest. Inspectors of Factories carry out a wide range of duties in the field of industrial safety health and welfare, inchiding administration of industrial awards and legislation relating to wages and working conditions in industrial, commercial and agricultural undertakings. On appointment, training will be given in one of the Department’s District Offices supplemented by a series of training courses in Wellington. Trainees will be required to pass a qualifying examination approximately nine months after appointment. When qualified, you may be required to transfer to another district but your wishes as to location will be given preference. The salary payable during and on satisfactory completion of training, career prospects and other information mav be obtained from any District Office or the Head Office of the Department of Labour.
