Power use well down
Municipal Electricity Department consumers are using much less power than expected this winter. It had been an exceptionally mild winter, said the general manager (Mr J. H. Donald) yesterday, but use dropped about 9.6 per cent,
compared with an estimated 5 per cent drop. Less use had been due to the mild weather, conservation attempts and individual cutbacks because power cost so much now, Mr Donald told the Christchurch City Council’s public utilities committee.
