PA Whakatane The Gisborne police have recovered almost half of the opossum skins stolen from a Whakatane fur-trading company on July 15. The pelts were recovered earlier this week after information had been received from a Gisborne firm.
Detective W. Plunkett, of the Whakatane C. 1.8., said that 179 skins had been identified as having come from the Whakatane burglary and were a mixture of first grade and third-grade pelts. Four hundred skins valued about $5OOO were taken in the burglary.
