Internationals top seedings
The Otago international,! Steve Wilson, and Canterbury’s most recent national | representative, Dianne Erik-! son, have been seeded first; in the singles events for the[ Skellerup Canterbury badminton championships. Both were members of the New Zealand team which lost the Whyte Trophy against Australia in Victoria recently. In a reversal of the 1977 result, when New Zealand won the trophy at Christchurch, Australia easily won the series, three rubbers to nil. However, the Australian trip was not without some success for Wilson, who won the Victorian open singles title. The championships, which begin at the Skellerup Hall this evening, will be an opportunity for the 25-year-old Otago player, a regular entrant in the pro-
vincial championships, to retain his Canterbury title. The championships will continue tomorrow and Saturday, with the finals beginining about 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
