Road danger
Sir, — Motorists who use the river road between Rakaia and Methven should know that in the last 12 months three dogs have been killed on this road. Two in the last fortnight were family pets and one was a very valuable sheep dog. It does seem to be quite a coincidence that the ski season is in full swing at this time. It seems that the only licence some of these people need is a fast car, a set of skis in the rack and snow in their eyes. The way some of them drive is disgraceful with no thought or courtesy for man or beast using this road. As a parent whose children cycle a mile and a quarter to and from a school bus route every day along this road I am in constant fear of a similar thing happening to them as happened to those dogs. — Yours, etc., ‘ JOHN LISTER, Rakaia.
