Equipment contract
A Christchurch firm of transport engineers, Steel Brothers (New Zealand). Ltd, has been awarded a $222,000 contract for refuse compaction and transfer equipment.
The firm was one of three that tendered for a compactor and three tri-axle trailer trucks for the Christchurch Metropolitan western refuse transfer station. The station, to be built in Hayton Road, will open in June, 1981.
The equipment will allow commercial refuse to be compacted at the transfer station and compressed into the trucks for transport to the landfill site.
Tenders ranged from $208,000 to $285,000.
