Building for sale
PA Wellington Air New Zealand is sounding out potential buyers for its Wellington N.A.C. building on The Terrace. The domestic services, reservation computer system, known as Carina, which services the whole of the country, is housed in the Wellington building, as is the airline’s fleet-control system. Plans are well advanced to shift these two services to Auckland. Air New Zealand’s director
of corporate and public affairs (Mr D. C. Saxton) declined to say if the rumoured price for the building of $8 million was correct. He said that any figure would be negotiable. It is believed that Air New Zealand will close two Wellington sales offices, one in the N.A.C. building and another in Lambton Quay, and that they will be replaced by a new sales office at the corner of Featherston and Grey streets.
