Protest by foresters
PA \ Rotorua Forestry workers held a protest march through the streets of Rotorua on Wednesday before calling .on the Forest Service conservancy headquarters. The men were angry about some forestry -workers being switched to special work schemes. A deputation of eight met the Conservator of Forests (Mr J. Ure). About 3000 members of the Workers’ Union from Rotoehu, Turangi, Minginui, Murupara, and parts of the east coast joined Rotorua workers in the protest march. The union’s national secretary (Mr S. Duggan), addressed the workers, asking that they demand job security.
