STEADY N.Z. MARKET
New Zealand stock exchanges were quiet in steady trading yesterday. Although rises outnumbered falls by two to one, the gains were mainly in second-line shares with market leaders again almost absent from the price movements. John Webster fell 3c to 60c on its decrease in profit announced for the full year, but Auckland Gas regained the 5c it lost on Wednesday to close at 435 c. Tyre manufacturers were mixed with Firestone up 5c to 120 c, but Dunlop N.Z. down 10c to 225 c.
