State of Aboriginals ‘Australia’s shame’
NZPA London A British monthly devotes its current issue to the treatment of Australia’s Aboriginals — which it calls “the second shameful period of Australia’s history.” The magazine says the “cruel race war” that went with the opening up of Australia by white men was followed by a “second coming” in the 19505. When Western demands for raw materials grew in the 19505, what followed was a “sad story of administrative duplicity in the interests of mining companies,
shareholders, and Western industries.” The outline is mads in the ‘‘New Internatonalist” magazine, which is owned by the British clarities, Oxfam and Christian Aid.
In an editorial called "Australia’s Shame” t says the Australian Government has often denounced seism and the evils of the South ’African apartheid system
But it argues that the Australian Prime Mhister (Mr Malcolm Fraser is lucky that the w<rld’s spotlight has not yet stung to his own country’s treatment of its indigenous Back people,
