Detectives sift information in Bell case
PA Auckland Auckland detectives hunting the killer of Margaret Bell, aged 17, are sifting through a mountain of information in the hope of finding a vital piece of evidence which may help solve the mystery,. “There are just two or three links left to build up the chain to the persons we are looking for,” said the head of the investigation (Detective Inspector B. J. Rowe) yesterday. “We only need to come across one of those links and
everything else will fall into place,” he said. Inspector Rowe said that inquiries during the last few days had confirmed intial theories that at least four persons were involved in the murder, although each of them had varying degrees of responsibility. “I would urge those persons involved on the fringe area to think very deeply about their involvement and come forward.”
Inspector Rowe said he could not promise any person immunity from prosecution; such a decision would be made at a high level.
