PA Wellington As many as, 200,(10fi ye- ( hides could be running on ( compressed natural gas by : 1985. saving up to 16 per cent of petrol used for road transport, the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) has said in Parliament.
If every petrol-driven vehicle in areas reticulated by natural gas could be converted to C.N.G.. petrol
savings would amount to i about 40 per cent, Mr I Birch said. However, for | several reasons it would i not be practical to convert I many private vehicles.
