Two police constables attacked
PA Masterton Two police constables were beaten up at the scene of a party in Masterton early yesterday morning, said'a police spokesman. One Of the constables is in the Masterton Hospital, covered in bruises and suffering from possible concussion. Senior-Sergeant H. J. Ire-
land said that the two constables were assaulted when they went to the scene of the party about 2 a.m. The police were concerned about the noise from the party and were also investigating the theft of a car. One of the constables was pushed over the bonnet of a ■car and attacked by two per-
sons, while the second policeman was grabbed from behind. Senior-Sergeant Ireland said that five extra policemen were called back on duty, and subsequently four arrests were made. Those arrested appeared in court in Masterton yesterday.
