Few leaders higher
Australian sharemarket industrials were mixed yesterday and mining and speculative stocks weakened. Big sales of E-Z Industries shares were reported in Melbourne, and the price rose 30c to 360 c. B.H.P. which eased 8c to 940 c, and CSR fell 5c to 350 c.
Winchcombe Carson rose 4c after Industrial Equity’s fresh takeover offer of 90c. Industrial Equity recovered 5c to 220 c.
C.R.A. released the Ashton venture quarterly report, which was somewhat disappointing. Information was given about the latest diamond count, but an expert evaluation (presumably gemstone count) would take another month. C.R.A. eased 2c to 343 c and Ashton was down 6c to 108 c.
Uranium stocks eased ' with Pancontinental falling isoc Queensland Mines down 15c, and Peko down 6c. Gold stocks were mixed with nervousness in international bullion markets.
