Rugby patrons delayed

Many people entering Lancaster Park from Wilsons Road for the rugby test last Saturday were delayed, and some who arrived in good time did not get to their seats until after the match had started. The secretary of the Victory Park Board - (Mr K. N. McGillivray) said yesterday that raceways had been used for the first time. A delay had occurred at one gate. “We may require more raceways and perhaps another gate,” said Mr McGil-

livray. “A lesson has been learnt and the same problem should not occur again.” He said that extra attendants had been sent tb the area once the difficulty had arisen, and they had cleared the crowd quickly. The flow at other gates had been good. Mr McGillivray was commenting on a letter to the editor of “The Press.” The

i correspondent, Mr Ken Fra1 ser, said that the delay was up to an hour, with no • movement for at least 20 ! minutes. The same thing had I occurred at the Australian I test last year. r No directions or signs i were on display, and even when the throng did advance, just before the kick. : off, no-one examined specta. »l tors’ tickets, said the letter.
