Doubts on computer
PA Auckland The Auckland Hospital Board might not be able to afford to join the Health Department's suggested computer. The board is nearing the end of a three-month trial on the admission and discharges system of the computer at Auckland Hospital. “There have been teething problems with the equipment,” said the board’s chief executive (Mr L. H. Corkery). “It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that we may have to say we cannot afford to join the computer. “Present indications are that the charge for Auckland Hospital alone will be $40,000 a year. We have to be satisfied the system is working to our needs and that there is some return for our expenditure,” he said.
