Counties win
PA Te Aroha. The Counties rugby side scored a well deserved win of 21 points to 15 over Thames Valley, at Te Aroha on Saturday. Playing into the sun and wind in the first half Thames Valley trailed. 9-14, at half-time. Tries were scored by Robert Kururangi and Brian Morris. Thames Valley’s points came from three penalties from Peter Slavich. In the second spell, Thames Valley, playing its first game of the season, settled down and turned on a much better game until the weight of the Counties pack took toll in the final 15 minutes. Kururangi scored his second try and Codlin another penalty while Slavich added a further two penalties to score all his side's points.
