Turner gets his century
NZPA London The New Zealand cricket star, Glenn Tumor, hit a swashbuckling 109 for Worcestershire against Lancashire on Saturday, completing a record he will share with England’s opening batsman, Geoff Boycott. Alone among present players, they have scored centuries against all other counties in the English championship. Dropped when 69, Turner continued in daz-
zling style at Southport on Saturday, packing one six and 14 fours into his 145-minute innings before the seamer, Bob Ratcliffe, clung to a return catch. Worcestershire’s 100 overs yielded nine for 342 but Lancashire responded with one for 105 in 33 overs. At Bristol, Pakistan’s Sadiq Mohammad carried Gloucestershire to a strong first-day position against its visitors, Glamorgan. Reprieved at long leg
when 32, he reached his second century of the season in three hours and went on to make 171 ■— his best championship score — adorned with 22 fours in a shade under five hours. When Glamorgan batted, Gloucester’s South African captain, Mike Proctor, picked up wickets off successive balls in his fourth over and Glamorgan ended the day 265 behind with seven wickets intact.
