Spectacular success
NZPA Sydney The Sydney jockey, Malcolm Johnston, completed a remarkable five wins in succession at Rosehill on Saturday by winning the $15,000 W. J. McKell Cup (2400 m on the New Zealand-bred Bi-Centennial (Karayar-Ngapuke).
The 22-year-old rider won the first five races on the eightevent programme, Bi-Centennial was 7-to-l in the McKell Cup, and Johnston handled him perfectly in a fastrun race to win by threequarters of a length and set a race record of 2min 31.6 sec.

key, Brent Thomson, rode tour winners at Bendigo, Victoria, last Thursday. He won a two-year-old handicap on Haze Hing and the final three races on the nine-event programme. His other winners were Dusky Hayes, The New Zealand-bred Pressman and Hyland Prince.
