No trace found of missing man
An air and sea search vesterday revealed no trace of the young Christchurch man missing after a catamaran capsized off Pigeon Bay on Wednesday. Mark De La Mare, aged 23, of St Albans, and formerly of Invercargill, was last seen floating in his lifejacket in heavy seas off Pigeon Bay’s -astern head about 1 p.m. on Wednesday. His sole companion aboard the 3.7 m “Happy Cat” craft.
.Mr Peter Clark, managed to! [swim ashore and climb a cliff to raise the alarm. Mr Clark, aged 23, spent yesterday aboard one of several small boats searching for his missing companion. A Royal New Zealand Air I Force Iroquois from Wigram joined the search for two hours yesterday afternoon without success. Shore searches in the area would be made again today, la police spokesman said.
