Desai talks
The Indian Prime Minister (Mr Morarji Desai) has said he has agreed with Soviet President (Mr Leonid Brezhnev) that non-interference was the “only way of avoiding trouble” over Afghanistan. Mr Desai told a news conference after two days of Kremlin talks that the situation in Afghanistan, where the Soviet-backed Government is battling Muslim guerrillas, was among subjects he had covered with Mr Brezhnev. Moscow and Kabul have accused India’s neighbour, Pakistan, of sending guerrillas into Afghanistan from bases on its territory. — Moscow.
