Fair for stadium
The new Pioneer Sports Stadium will be hired for a trade and industries fair during the middle of March next year.
The hiring of the stadium by New Zealand Exhibitions, Ltd, w-as approved last evening by the City Council for March 10 to 25.
Earlier, the company had asked to use the stadium in May. Councillors were reluc-
tant to agree since it would clash with holiday recreation programmes.
Some regular sports bodies would be inconvenienced even by the March hiring, but a staff report said that most organised indoor sport occurred from April to September.
The fair is held every year in a main centre to display New Zealand goods and services.
