N.Z. soccer squad
Trans Tours United’s three present internationals, Steve Sumner, Johann Verweij and Bobby Almond, have all retained their places in the New Zealand soccer squad to tour New Caledonia and Fiji, beginning next week. New Zealand will play two tests against both New Caledonia and Fiji. Two players, Frank van Hattum (Manurewa) and Gary Paddison (Wellington Diamond United) have been dropped from the squad which beat Australia, 1-0, last week.
Three young players, Ken Cresswell (Newmans Nelson United), Alex Metzer (Blockhouse Bay) and Shane Rufer (Stop Out) have been included in the squad. The full squad is: S. Davie, T. Sibley, K. Nelson, B. Turner, (Mount Wellington), K. Cresswell, R. Wilson (Nelson), A. Metzer (Blockhouse Bay), S. Rufer (Stop Out), S. Sumner, J. Verweij, B. Almond (T.T.U.), A. Stamp, S. Malcolmson (Eastern Suburbs), A. Elrick, D. Cole, D. Ormond (Hanimex United), D. Bright (Manurewa).
