Warning to workers
PA Whangarei Portland cement workers who have decided to ignore earless days, have received a directive to display stickers on their cars or face prosecution. Members of the Portland Cement Workers’ union had decided that they would not nominate a earless day when they relicensed their cars this month as a protest against petrol restrictions.
After the decision, the secretary of the union (Mr D. Clunie) was told by the director of the demand group of the Ministry of Energy (Mr Colin Ryder) that his members would risk prosecution if they did not display earless day stickers by July 1.
