W. Sutherland returns to profit
W. Sutherland and Company, Ltd, returned a profit in the year to March 31. and the directors have recommended a dividend of 5c a share (5 per cent), the first to be recommended since 1974.
The profit was $104,473 compared with a loss of $135,527 previously, while the trading profit was $86,038 compared with a loss of $197,966. No taxation provision is required because of previous losses.
The dividend requires $36,313 and is covered 2.8 times by the profit. No date is given for the payment of the dividend, or ex dividend date.
