Sports ground fees up
Average sports ground charge rises of 20 per cent from April, 1980, were approved without comment by the Christchurch City Council last evening. But councillors, after meeting disgruntled sports groups last week, agreed to consider using Government Recreation and Com-
munity Development funds to soften the impact. It has been suggested that the council itself could make a grant application on behalf of all sports bodies to help cover the cost rise. That suggestion will be studied by the parks and recreation committee.
