The new Scan Carriers roll-on sei vice, which at present has 'lunaiu as its only South island, port of call, would have lequired p iority labour and berthage to cal] at Lyttelton. They link with a service running from Scandinavia, the Continent. and the Middle East at least one? a month. Before the New Zealand ports were selected the Scandinavian pimcipals made an extensive appraisal of manv New Zealand ports, including Tauranga, Lyttelton. and Bluff.
