Vietnamese towed out
NZPA Kuala Lumpur Malaysian authorities, carrying out a plan that has stirred an international outcry, loaded at least 500 Vietnamese refugees into a boat early this morning (New Zealand time) and towed it out into the South China Sea, onlookers reported. Under a tight cordon of security forces, the refugees, mostly women and children, were herded into a repaired Vietnamese boat at Kota Bharu, 400 km north-east of Kuala Lumpur, given fuel, food, and water, and sent on their way, the onlookers said.
