More help sought in crises
More than 1200 calls for help were receieved by the Christchurch branch of the Society for the Protection of Home and Family in the last year. The btanch, which was b unded more than 70 years ago. is one of the oldest social-welfare agencies in Christchurch.
The president of the branch (Mrs A. Mardon) said that the present economic situation was probably the catise of the increased number ot persons seeking help. The society provides counselling and emergency accommodation lor adults and children suffering from the effects of marital crises, alcoholism, and violence.
