Police still seek burglar
The Christchurch C. 1.8. is still investigating a burglary in Sydenham late on Thursday evening in which a young woman was injured in a fight with a burglar. Miss Annette Parks, aged 22, of King Street, had been sitting in her lounge with a flatmate when the burglar broke in through the back door about 10.15 p.m. Miss Parks grappled with the intruder after she found him standing in a bedroom, holding her purse. The man managed to get out' of the house but Miss
Parks chased him down the road until he turned and hit her on the head with a stick. The burglar dropped Miss Parks’s bag, which contained $3O, during the chase. Miss Parks was treated at Christchurch Hospital for facial injuries and later discharged. Yesterday. The Christchurch police praised her for her bravery. The man the police are seeking was described as a Polynesian, aged about 11, about 1.72 metres tall, of solid build, with curly, shoulder-length black hair.
