Tony Greig wants to be an ’Ocker'
NZPA Melbourne The former England test cricket captain, Tony Greig, wants to become an Australian. He says he feels an Australian "more than anything else.” Greig, who lives in a $300,000 mansion overlooking Sydney Harbour, says, “I have made my home here. I want to bcome an Australian citizen as soon as I can.” Greig lost the England captaincy after leading the breakaway to Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket in 1977. Greig said he would like to get into the Australian cricket camp. “I couldn’t play for Australia,” he said, “not after fighting a war with them for 10 years. “But 1 would like to help in any way I can. As time passes, it will become more of a possibility.” Greig said his old rival, lan Chappell, should be captain of the Australian team for next season if the Australian Cricket Board “is fair dinkum.”
