Situation: An anti-cyclone centred between the South Island and the Chatham Islands is moving slowly east, and extends a ridge to Gisborne; a shallow trough over the Tasman Sea is moving towards New Zealand and is expected to bring unsettled weather to the north and west of the country over the week-end. Forecasts: Canterbury: Moderate northeasterlies; areas of drizzle and low cloud about the coast this morning but fine inland; cool. Marlborough, Nelson: Light winds; cloud gradually in-
creasing in the Nelson region; elsewhere mainly fine apart from some drizzle about the Kaikoura Coast this morning; moderate afternoon temperatures. Buller, Westland; Moderate northerlies with variable skies and scattered showers in Westland; cloud gradually increasing with a few showers possible for Buller; cool in the south but moderate afternoon temperatures in the north. Outlook: Drizzle on the Canterbury coast; showers in western Nelson, fine elsewhere; showers on the West Coast
