A young man was killed on a farm near Culverden yesterday afternoon when a grinding-wheel flew apart and a piece hit him on the head. He was Philip John Flanagan, aged 20, of Oxford. Constable P. Toneycliffe, of Culverden, said that Mr
Flanagan was grinding a piece of metal on the Glens of Te Koa property, about 32km west of Culverden, when the mishap occurred. Constable Toneycliffe said nobody saw the accident, and that it -was about an hour and a half before Mr Flanagan was found.
