Ambassador praised
NZPA Washington President Carter praised the United States Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Armistead Selden, jun., as he prepared to leave New Zealand. Mr Carter cabled “special gratitude” for Mr Selden's contributions to the conduct of American foreign policy. The Ambassador, whose five-year term ended on June 1, is naw back in Washington and disclosed the text of the cablegram to NZPA: "The great dedication and purpose with which you have carried out your challenging responsibilities. . . have added new lustre to your already distinguished The President said that Mr Selden had ably respresented American interests. . “The insights which you have brought to bear in your work have provided a valuable contribution to relations with New Zealand. Western Samoa, and Tonga,” President Carter said. “I welcome this opportunity to express mv personal appreciation for the devoted service you have given our nation,”
