Top tennis men here?
Two ot the great men of tennis, Ken Rosewall and Tony Roche, might play an indoor exhibition match at night in Christchurch in November this year. The two legendary Australians are being sought for a whirlwind tour of New Zealand, consisting of six “one-night stands” and a daylight match in Auckland. It is also believed that efforts are being made to secure the services of the gifted American teenage players, Tracey Austin and Pam Shriver, for a short series in New Zealand. Christchurch is “99 per cent sure” of getting the Eastern Zone semi-final tie in the Davis Cup competition, according to the president of the Canterbury LTA, Mr Brian Faulls. The tie will be held either in late January or early February.
