Call for Okarito inquiry
Logging in the South Okarito forest should be the subject of an independent in? vestigation, said the president of the Federated Mountain Clubs (Dr G. Claridge) yesterday. A similar call has been made by the Native Forests Action Council. 1 The scenic and recreational value of the forest was high and justified its inclusion in the Westland^,National Park, said Dr Claridge. The need to provide' logs was the only thing stopping the Government from adding the forest, to the park, he said.
