Situation: A complex trough of low pressure lying from west of the North Island across central districts to the east of the South Island, is moving slowly east. A weak ridge of high pressure extends across the central Tasman Sea on to the South Island. Forecasts:

Canterbury: Light winds; fine and cool. Marlborough, Nelson: Light winds; cloud increasing, late rain likely. Buller, Westland: Mainly fine, but isolated showers likely; light winds, cool. Outlook; Unsettled, rain likely in Canterbury and the West Coast.
