As tills Readership is at present the senior academic: I position in sociology within: the university, applicants: should have broad interests across the field of sociology and social anthropology. The university is particularly interested in applicants whose interests encompass apects of social and/or rural development. The successful applicant would ordinarily be expected to undertake administrative responsibility for the sociology discipline but this arrangement may be varied in particular circumstances. Further particulars are available on request. READER IN GEOGRAPHY (Post 79/59) Applications are invited for the post of reader in geography. As this readership is at present the senior academic position in geography within the university, the applicant should have a broad competence in the field with interests in both economic and social geography. Some experience in the Third World would be an advantage. The successful applicant would ordinarily be expected to undertake administrative responsibility for the geography discipline but this arrangement may be varied in particular circumstances. In addition the university provides gratuity amounting to 15. per cent of basic salary, superannuation contribution, appointment allowance, partly furnished accommodation at a maximum rental at present of 121 per cent of salary; this is under review.
