Fluoridation
Sir, — I agree with M. J. Molloy (June 11) that dental caries is caused by wrong eating, but I disagree that there is merit in fluoridation, It is an S2 poison, it merely delays the dental caries by one to two years; it is extremely wasteful as only half of 1 per cent is used for the purpose it was intended; there is no guarantee that only Ippm will come from the tap; there is no medical check on the quantity available from any tap. Holland has thrown it out, no continental country has it, over 250 cities and towns in the United States have thrown it out, and finally an advocate for fluoride has admitted in a United States court that he had certain reservations about its safety. The “big guns” were fighting for fluoride at this court hearing, but the judge ruled against them and ordered the fluoridation to cease. — Yours, etc., JACK D. MEECHIN. June 11, 1979.
