Big fare cut by P and O
P and O Cruises have announced fare reductions of between $335 and $513 for New Zealanders who take the line’s October 16 cruise on the Sea Princess from Auckland to Brisbane via Sydney, Noumea, Suva, Vava’u and Nukualofa. In addition, the company is offering up to three nights free accommodation in Brisbane, plus a free air ticket from Brisbane to New Zealand. Asked why the company had reduced the fares, the New Zealand passenger manager of P and O (Mr Barry Hickman) said that the marketing concept for a cruise involving embarkations at three ports (in this instance, Auckland, Sydney, and Brisbane) required a measure of balance in passenger numbers.
