Social Credit policy

Sir, — “Digging up the tax frontier” by A. K. Grant (“The Press,” May 23) could be an amusing article were it not for the strong element of truth implicit. Mr Muldoon is proving to be a witch doctor, not an economic wizard, and the recent taxes show the extent to which his imagination is pushed and the extremes to which he will go. 'A Social Credit economy would not be pushed to the limit as the present ones are, as it is designed to control inflation. A Social Credit government would also restrict the involvement of the State to a minimum in private enterprise apart from providing an economic climate where private enterprise can flourish. The present “cradle-to-the-grave” protectionist policies of both the other parties stifle individual initiative and adventure. Both the other parties are socialist and free enterprise will continue to suffer as long as the country is controlled by these two outdated parties. — Yours, etc., L A. WRIGHT. Mav 23, 1979.
