Goat thief fined
PA Timaru A man has been Jailed for three months for stealing an Angora goat valued at $5OOO. He was also charged with stealing a kid, worth $5O.
Zephlyn Ivan Prosper Vlahovic, aged 2s, unemployed, of Lake Tekapo, was appearing for sentence in the Magistrate’s Court, Timaru. He had pleaded guilty to the combined charge at an earlier hearing. Mr I. Hay, S.M., said he was satisfied Vlahovic knew the value of the goat when he took it from a West Coast property in April. Because of the goat’s value, the case was “very serious,” he said. “I do not believe you did not know what the cost of the goat was. You took off its ear tags and clipped its fleece,” said the Magistrate. “It was an easy offence to commit and a difficult one to detect”
